Welcome to this workshop
Dear all,
welcome to a blog which is supposed to reflect the contents a workshop dedicated to the poetry of the late David Joel Shapiro.
By launching this project, I am hoping to create a safe and welcoming environment for poetry lovers who would like to take on a demanding task of analyzing and translating the beautifully complex poems authored by this New York-based poet. I mean this place to be a collaborative space: following the workshops that we are going to hold, I am counting on the students' translations to be published here.
As I have said on numerous occasions, poetry doesn't pay your bills, indeed, but I tend to think it makes your life better by making it deeper.
So, please feel free to contribute to this project, directly or indirectly, by reading the posts and posting comments, and by expressing your opinions about this poetry. Let us keep it alive.
In posts to come, I am going to share articles, publications, or simply ideas that are linked to Shapiro's life and poetry. Please follow this blog for more info.
